Episode Context

Coming off 'Bonding Memories,' where Edward and Alphonse reconciled with their past and strengthened their resolve, 'Words of Farewell' pivots the narrative toward the larger military conspiracy that has been simmering beneath the surface. This midseason episode serves as a critical turning point, escalating Hughes's investigation to dangerous new territory while launching the brothers on their next journey. It directly sets the stage for 'Her Reason,' which digs further into character motivations and the deepening web of secrets surrounding the military's true agenda.
