EPISODE CONTEXT
Episode 12 wraps up the Tringham brothers and red water conspiracy arc that began in episode 11, a self-contained filler detour that nonetheless echoes the series' core themes about the Philosopher's Stone and the cost of pursuing it. Sitting roughly a quarter into the 51-episode run, it serves as a thematic breather before the Elric brothers push deeper into their main quest. The next stretch of episodes ramps up the stakes considerably as Ed and Al confront more dangerous obstacles on the road to the Stone.
