Frieren, however, offers a cryptic suggestion that a bridge might be nearing completion nearby.

To Stark's amazement, a massive wooden bridge *is* indeed finished, spanning the impossible chasm. Frieren expresses surprise, having heard no prior rumors of such a grand construction. They encounter Gen, a dwarf Frieren recognizes, who reveals he has spent 200 years building the bridge. Despite its completion, Gen explains it's unusable; large bird monsters create fierce winds, blowing travelers away, and he needs help clearing them. Frieren, after an unimpressive offer of a pancake-flipping spell as reward, nonetheless accepts the request.

Stark questions Gen's relentless dedication, prompting Frieren to recount the story through a flashback. Later, in the harsh Schmal Snowfield, Frieren, Fern, and Stark find themselves in a familiar predicament: low on funds. Frieren, ever pragmatic, decides on a new course of action, leading them to a bustling adventurer's camp. She explains that adventurers gather here to mine valuable 'Pure Snow Crystals,' an essential and rare ingredient for magic potions. The crystals' scarcity and location in a dangerous, monster-ridden zone drive up their market price and the rewards for subjugation quests.

During their hunt for crystals, Frieren quickly locates a formidable wolf monster. She warns Stark against carelessness, highlighting that its presence suggests it has already overcome other adventurers. Stark engages the creature, demonstrating his growing skill by narrowly dodging a dangerous attack. Soon, the group finds themselves surrounded not by one, but by an entire pack of menacing wolf demons, escalating the danger significantly.

Just as the situation grows dire, a contingent of knights, led by a stoic commander in a red cape, appears. They swiftly engage the wolf pack, providing much-needed assistance to Frieren's party. The knights explain they were following unusual monster activity reports. Frieren expresses her gratitude, and the commander acknowledges their contribution to preserving the region's natural beauty. Frieren observes that the Northern Highlands are slowly undergoing a transformation.

The next morning, Fern marvels at the pure snow crystals, illuminated by the rising sun. Frieren looks upon the sparkling landscape, recalling Himmel's words about defeating the Demon King so everyone could witness such beauty. She reflects on the strange feeling of seeing this vision realized through the countless people who now can experience it. Back at the camp, they receive their payment. It is revealed that the knight commander who hired them was inspired by Himmel, bringing a visible smile to Fern's face as the enduring legacy of the hero continues to shape the world.
