Un excelente episodio en el que nos muestran a un personaje que con tan solo unos minutos logra plasmar un aura increíble de buen personaje. Ojalá veamos más de ese personaje, el héroe en las sombras.

I like how this episode introduces more heroes from the past, just like Kraft from Season 1. It shows that there are other heroes who are just as important and strong as the Party of Heroes. It was also tragic that the Hero of the South was kind of forgotten by most people except the village they visited. It makes you think that, at some point, the Party of Heroes and even Frieren's current group might also be forgotten in the future.

They're exploring a new place, and you can tell Frieren and the gang are getting closer even though they don't really say much

This episode has really good writing the fact that the both the hero of the south and the demon had future site and still fought which resulted in both if them dying since they have the same powers is just chef's kiss. I love how Frieren herself is like this living book of knowledge that passes on knowledge throughout time.

Hero of the South. Yes, he is due to the contributions he made for the people of south (obviously). Other than those weird words of mine, I'd say we learn alot about demons in this episode mostly through the backstory of the Hero of the South and after a fight with a demon.

Love the animation, it's getting better since season 1. The soundtrack, too, it matches the vibe during the fight scene. Good story telling to introduce the Hero of the South. He is the GOAT.

The animation is still as good as Season 1. The consistency is better than other anime when it comes to animation and pacing. The storytelling is good, like how they introduced the hero of the south and how strong he is. The fighting scenes are also good without a doubt.

The Hero of the South was introduced, and I like how the efforts of Himmel's party did not detract from his own story and self worth, nor were his efforts in vain. The story warns us about wolves in sheep's clothing, and how nothing is ever as it seems. Great visuals!!!

The Hero of the South brings an interesting and unexpected vibe. He was the strongest of humanity in his time, and I’m glad his accomplishments are still remembered. Frieren reminiscing about defeating the Sword Demon with Himmel and the Gang felt really wholesome.

the hero of the south introduction hits different, especially seeing how his sacrifice connects back to frieren and himmel's journey - the prophecy reveal gives serious chills. first half is genuinely excellent with great direction, second half is a bit weaker but overall a solid nostalgic episode that rewards long-time viewers

A forgotten hero's statue opens a fascinating window into the world before Himmel. A demon disguised as a priestess and a grimoire that turns apples green — classic Frieren priorities intact.

Not only Himmel but the Hero of the South is also the GOAT. I can't believe Madhouse did a version of Frieren looking up, those mad lads 😭. The fight with the sword demon is superb, the combination of effects, soundtrack and smooth animation is definitely peak.

Hot springs episode but make it MELANCHOLY. An abandoned village, the silence, and Frieren's reaction? Bro this show weaponizes emptiness against you. I wasn't ready. Evan Call's score said "cry" and I said "okay."

The hero of the South as the strongest hero of humanity has ever seen is a bit confusing because Himmel has defeated the Demon King. But again, The hero of the south took on 3 of the 7 strongest frontlines of the demon king all by himself knowing Death is certain. RESPECT.

This episode masterfully handles the concept of legacy and history that affects the current events of the anime. It also doesn't shy away from darker themes that makes you realize why humans will never be able to live peace without eliminating demons.

Massive Lore Dump this week. The Hero of the South is the absolute GOAT, taking out three of the Seven Sages of Destruction is an insane power flex that paved the way for Frieren's former party. Evan Call’s soundtrack during the combat scenes is a total W again.

We jump into action in episode 2 already, the animation was crisp like always. It's great that anime is expanding on the story of other heroes. Also Frieren's take on human nature in the end was thought provoking, I wonder if Elves are the same.

This episode slowly progress as Frieren enters the South. She was given a task along with Fern and Stark by the prince of the South. This episode brings the nostalgic freshness of Himmel & his comrades. The perfect blend of nostalgic, choatic and bit of action paced episode.

Great episode! Half of it was about the Hero of the South and the other half was filled with fight scenes that was definitely a visual spectacle and short-term intense atmosphere that amazed me for a moment.

That grimoire reward from that quest was ridiculous as ever 🤣

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following the season premiere 'Shall We Go, Then?,' this episode broadens the scope by weaving in a new legendary figure whose past with Frieren enriches the journey ahead. It's classic early-season worldbuilding—episode 2 of 10 means this is laying foundational threads that will pay off later. The introduction of the Hero of the South signals the season's continued investment in exploring how great figures and their legacies ripple through time, setting the stage for deeper conflicts and revelations to come.
