Food Wars! The Third Plate: Totsuki Train Arc
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A dark age of cooking befalls Tootsuki Culinary Academy. With the Elite Ten's devastating coup d'état, Azami Nakiri is now the director of the prestigious school. Students must now conform to Azami's ideology of "true gourmet food" and are forbidden to express creativity, or else face expulsion. However, Souma Yukihira and the members of the Polar Star Dormitory refuse to accept these changes. Aided by other rebellious first-years, including the tenth seat, Erina Nakiri, Souma and his allies band together to fight off supporters of Azami's regime. But corrupt instructors and the menacing Central organization stand in their way, and so they must work together, harder than ever before, to survive every underhanded plot designed to banish them from the school.

I love how the judges give names and backstories to the dishes, it's so funny. It was a really good episode, showing the difference between tradition passed down from generation to generation and serving clients. I just wish we could have seen more of the former Elite Ten members of Totsuki Academy, a missed opportunity.
We can see the backstory and relationship of two characters, another side of Isshiki and the importance he gives to his friends at Polar Star Dormitory. It's a good episode where the pace is fluid, the animation and music are good, and the outcome is predictable. It's not an amazing episode, but it shows more of Isshiki's personality.
Finally we see the start of the Shokugeki that will decide the future of Totsuki and our protagonists. I was surprised that some characters will fight alongside Yukihira, Erina, Aldini and Tadokoro, while others came as no surprise. The tension can be sensed throughout the whole match and the results are uncertain.
More of a backstory episode that doesn't tell us what's going to happen, but explains why things are happening, what made Azami obsessed with Yoichiro and the path they took when they were young and how they ended up becoming who they are today. Even if the protagonist group wasn't involved that much, it was a very interesting episode.
A slower, less action-heavy episode that serves as a preparation for the final showdown against Central. But we also see Erina's resolve as a consequence of her time at the Polar Star Dormitory, and the contrast between her relationship with her father and Souma's relationship with his. Looking forward to what's coming.
Probably the biggest surprise and turn of events of this cour is in this episode. I wasn't expecting the resolution Souma and the rest came up with in order to change Totsuki Academy back to what it was before Asami became the director, or who helped them. An episode that leaves us with anticipation for what's coming.
Such an exaggerated… episode and that's what I'm looking for when watching this anime. How they talk about the dishes, the reactions and the comparisons make it so fun and entertaining to watch. The revelation of the other 'rebels'' results at the end was surprising, and the animation was better than in previous episodes.
We can finally see the start of a long awaited Shokugeki, but just the preparation and finished dish of one of the participants, for the resolution we need to wait for the next episode. We also see new and familiar faces, which makes the episode refreshing. The motivation and actions of one character now make much more sense.
More of an episode preparing the anticipated Shokugeki rematch and showing us how much a certain character has improved their abilities. I felt the pace was a little slow when it didn't need to be, especially in an episode without much plot involved. The animation and music were okay, nothing special.
I just love how Erina's character development is done little by little in every episode, not with tons of dialogue or scenes. This particular episode is alright, nothing remarkable until the end with a certain revelation. Again, the lighting in this episode, especially in the city, is gorgeous, the biggest animation until now.
I wish the training regime teased in the last episode had been longer. Even so, I want to emphasize how well animated and especially how well-crafted the lighting was during this episode, particularly at the end. The plot itself didn't take a huge step, but moved a little bit forward.
Such a heartwarming episode to start the second cour. Seeing the relationship some characters had in the past and their influence in the present was a great way to connect both timelines. The pace was also really good, going from flashbacks to the present smoothly. The animation and music were good, but nothing remarkable.
I think it's wrong to watch this anime at night. Yuhihira and Kinokuni's battle is on par. Yukihira is indeed full of surprises. This episode shows how much dedication and how much he was cooking, he did all his life. It's a good way to end the season and episode. But I can't wait for the next episode.
This episode shows how Kinokuni and Isshiki are connected. The backstory creates this deep emotion in Kinokuni. We also see the judge on this episode for the team shokugeki. Isshiki is effortlessly funny. The match is satisfying to watch. As usual, Yukihira is full of surprises.
Good start. The rebels' team is a surprise. It's also obvious that they don't like the rebels. The battle is satisfying to watch. I just don't know where Yukihira got his unfortunate luck picking a topic. Meanwhile, Isshiki's opponent is a bit of a showoff. Ishhiki's being calm is terrifying.
This episode is focused on the lore of everything that happened to them when they were still students. This is the reason for everything that Azami wants to change. Joichiro's comeback is goosebumps. Must watch.
The continuation of the team battle training is getting intense. On the other hand, Saiba's team is more of a clash than a team. Nakiri's taking too many deep breaths is funny. Things are getting interesting from this episode. I also didn't expect that from Nakiri.
Rindo is such a tease. But yet again, it doesn't remove the fact that they are now in a tighter situation than before. Yukihira's logic is reasonable but unrealistic, but he is confident, or maybe he's just being himself, being Yukihira. I'm so hype about the plot twist of this episode.
I do like how they insert the backstory before serving Hayama's dish. This episode shows Yuhikira's dedication to finding the right ingredient for the dish. This episode is also a Déjà vu on the Moon Festival. A goosebumps moment when Dojima lectured Hayama. What an emotional ending scene we have.
Hayama's reason is understandable, but his ways are not reasonable. I feel the same way about Kuga and Yukihira. Yuhikira's words for Hayama are heavy and a slap for him. I like Yukihira for that. I still hate Hayama's overconfidence. And of course there will be a cliffhanger.
