Megumi putting her hometown into her dish is such a good narrative device. Food as memory is a concept the show has danced around but this episode commits to it fully and it works. The judges' reactions are earned not just flashy.

How they fight over what to call Tadokoro is comedically effective. Everything Tadokoro has endured has flashed in her memory, making it effective in the scene where we are waiting for the result. It's an unexpected turn of events. An emotional and lore-heavy episode.
