This episode did not feel like it is the beiginning due to it having an amazing pacing and being it already feeling great with its comedy. Comedy is the highlight and also the main genre of it being cooking will hook up viewers and will pique intrest with this skill. A fun pilot episode.

Episode Context

As the series premiere, this episode is pure foundation, it establishes Sōma's skill level, his relationship with his father, and the scrappy underdog identity that will define his entire arc. Everything here builds toward the pivotal moment that sends Sōma to the elite Tōtsuki Culinary Academy, where the real battles begin. The first few episodes form an essential on-ramp before the season escalates into high-stakes shokugeki duels and ensemble rivalries.
