Episode Context

Sitting deep in the Rookie King Tournament arc, episode 22 follows Ippo's strategic preparation against a prodigy-level opponent and now thrusts him into the heat of competition at the tournament's most critical stage. This is roughly the endpoint of the first major proving ground for Ippo as a boxer, with the subsequent episode shifting focus to 'The Other Semi-Final' and expanding the tournament's scope beyond Ippo's own bracket. At episode 22 of 75, the series is establishing its core pattern, grueling training followed by high-stakes payoff, that will define the longer journey ahead.
