Episode Context

Twelve episodes of training, self-discovery, and early professional bouts have built Ippo into a fighter ready for his first real proving ground, the Eastern Japan Rookie Championship Tournament begins here at episode 13, marking a clear narrative shift from foundation to competition. Everything prior, Ippo's introduction to boxing, his relationship with Takamura, and his grueling preparation under Coach Kamogawa, converges at this starting line. With 62 episodes still ahead, this tournament arc is positioned as the first major crucible that will define Ippo's trajectory for the rest of the series.
