Takamura the undisputed beetle puncher saves Makunouchi from bullies. Episode starts slow for me so 3.5 stars but it definitely gets better

Ippo has to be one of the best written anime's of our times. The direction and animation of the first episode is very nostalgic yet fresh in its own sense. The soundtrack invokes a rush of positivity and the story sets the stage for Ippo's legendary journey towards greatness.

A great introduction that balances emotions with the adrenaline of boxing. It tries to avoid sports cliché by focusing on Ippo's shift from a victim to a fighter. The sound effects the punch hitting a bag was a great "ring" of the bell - similar to a start of a round of boxing.

Ippo portray a loving son, dedicated to work and a little bit of shy. We can all relate to the Ippo as he's a bullied underdog and setting up a realistic journey to boxing. Emotional, great music and managed to make me hyped a few of times. The feels i get from this song.
