Episode Context

Sitting at roughly the one-third mark of Rising, this episode follows the confirmation of Ippo's next title defense against the dangerous Sawamura Ryuuhei and shifts fully into preparation mode. The sparring with Volg serves as a critical diagnostic, exposing the vulnerabilities in Ippo's signature technique that will define the stakes going forward. It directly sets up 'The Face of Determination' in Episode 10, where Ippo confronts the physical toll of adapting his style to survive the coming fight.
