Episode Context

Coming off Aoki's championship fight in episode 6, the spotlight returns squarely to Ippo as Rising begins laying the foundation for his next title defense. 'Cheese Champion' sits at the season's first major narrative pivot point, transitioning from the lighter supporting-cast arcs into what promises to be a more psychologically intense rivalry. The introduction of Sawamura here sets the trajectory for the episodes ahead, establishing a threat that challenges Ippo on a strategic and mental level rather than purely physical.
