This movie heavily focuses on championship level ring tactics rather than raw power. The animation during the fight scenes are sharp and dynamic, making the viewer almost feel the impact behind each blow. This is a must watch for any boxing fan!

Episode Context

As a self-contained OVA released after the original Hajime no Ippo TV series, Champion Road captures Ippo's first major challenge as reigning Japanese Featherweight Champion, making it a direct continuation of his title victory. There are no preceding or following episodes within this release, it stands alone as a bridge between the original series and later installments like New Challenger. Fans treating this as part of a broader watch order should consider it essential connective tissue before moving forward in Ippo's story.
