Episode Context

As the series premiere of a 23-episode run, this episode exists purely to establish the underdog foundation. Kakeru's arrival, the broken state of the Kickers club, and the enormous gap between where the team is and where it needs to be. Everything introduced here, the demoralized players, the losing mentality, the team's near-collapse, becomes the raw material that subsequent episodes will build on as Kakeru attempts to reignite their competitive spirit ahead of upcoming rivalries.
