Synopsis

Left largely unsupervised in their secluded mansion, the Saegusa sisters have the house largely to themselves and they've developed some very particular ways of filling that time. Yuki and Shizuka are the kind of characters who carry themselves with complete control on the surface while something much darker runs underneath, and this 2-episode OVA from 2001 is interested in peeling that back slowly. There's a family secret buried in that secluded mansion, and the story uses it to build genuine psychological tension rather than just leaning on shock value. The dynamic between the sisters themselves is honestly more interesting than anything else here — there's a complicated power balance at play that keeps you second-guessing who's really in charge. The early 2000s animation has that distinct flat, moody look that fans of that era will recognize immediately. If you've seen Immoral Sisters or Bible Black and appreciated how those handled atmosphere over pure spectacle, this sits in similar territory. It's closer in spirit to something like Discipline: The Record of a Crusade in terms of how it builds its world before letting things unravel. At only two episodes, it doesn't overstay its welcome, and the psychological undercurrent gives it more substance than you'd typically expect from a short-form OVA in this genre. Worth a watch if the psychological angle appeals to you more than the surface elements.
