Everyday Host

After years of selling life insurance, Hajime Sekiguchi now finds himself working as a host at a small club outside Shinjuku. That's the career pivot, and the show just runs with it. Everyday Host is a short-form comedy TV series based on a 4-koma manga, following Hajime as he tries to apply his corporate sales instincts to the deeply weird world of Club One. His coworkers include Koichi, a perpetually cheerful "younger brother" type who's somehow been doing this for 20 years, Ryoichi, a former idol who flirts like it's a sales funnel, and Senichi, who's way too into mobile games and way too aggressive about everything. The humor comes from Hajime being the only remotely normal person in the room and slowly realizing that his old job might have been less absurd than this one. It's directed by Rarecho, the person behind Aggretsuko, and you can feel that same energy — workplace frustration turned into sharp, compact comedy. If you liked Aggretsuko's take on office life or the host club chaos of Ouran High School Host Club but wanted something grittier and more grounded in adult reality, this fits that niche. Twenty-four bite-sized episodes, a catchy theme song performed by the cast, and the kind of gag humor that works best when you've had a long day at your own job. It's low commitment and genuinely funny.
