Three episodes in, Eureka Seven is still firmly in its setup phase — Renton has taken the pivotal step of joining Gekkostate following the events of "Blue Sky Fish," and "Motion Blue" deepens his immersion into that world, pushing past the initial encounter and into the friction of actually living within it. This episode bridges his naive arrival and the more complex relationship dynamics that will define the mid-season stretch.
