EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off Renton's dramatic departure from the Gekkostate in 'Runaway,' this episode opens the next chapter by following the consequences of that decision from his perspective. Sitting just past the series' midpoint at episode 22 of 50, 'Crackpot' begins a transitional arc that recontextualizes Renton's growth away from familiar anchors. The introduction of Charles and Ray Beams plants seeds that will ripple through the back half of the season in meaningful ways.
