I love how the episode didn’t have any dragging moments and stayed fast-paced! Each part contains new, crucial info. But it also has a heartbreaking moment involving Hina, and even a hint of romantic vibe. Overall, this episode has romance, suspense, and sadness

Satoru trata de remediar el pasado de Kayo tras confirmar su dura vida y le da un momento mágico y emotivo tratando de parecer de su edad y no atraer sospechas.

So sweet! I teared up watching this. It's heartbreaking seeing Kayo's home life and what she deals with at school, but Satoru trying to help make her life better is so wholesome. It really delves into why Kayo is the way she is and it's absolutely worth the watch.

Satoru's journey continues in his childhood and I like that we get to see some more moments of their daily lives as kids. There were some heartbreaking scenes involving Hinazuki though, but Satoru seems to be getting closer to her while standing up for her.

Kayo's life was very sad, which explains why she's so antisocial. The episode had a dark theme, but I'm glad Satoru's making good progress in gaining Kayo's trust. The fox scene was very cute. Still, will it be enough? He doesn't just have to save lives & the clock is ticking.

The abuse behind Kayo's silence hits like a punch to the gut. Satoru standing up for her against false accusations and taking her to that frost-covered tree is quietly beautiful. The warmth he offers contrasts painfully with her reality at home. Deeply moving and tender.

School life stuff ramps up the personal stakes nicely. Pacing flows smoothly between slice of life and subtle tension. Animation captures the 80s/90s kid energy beautifully, soft colors, great snow scenes. Character development deepens friendships in a natural, heartfelt way. :')

Man this episode is really hard to watch. I really feel sorry for Hinazuki in this episode. The plot thickens in every episode and it's just so interesting how he's going to put the mysteries all together.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following Episode 2's reestablishment of Satoru in 1988 and his initial reconnection with Kayo, 'Birthmark' deepens the emotional foundation that the rest of the season will build on—this is where the show commits to its heart, not just its hook. Sitting at the quarter-mark of the 12-episode run, it bridges the setup phase into more active territory, directly feeding into Episode 4 where Satoru's protective instincts sharpen into concrete action against the approaching tragedy.
