Elf Hime Nina

Among the seven heroes who saved the world, Kyle was the one who immediately started conquering it. That tension between savior and tyrant is what drives Elf Hime Nina, a 3-episode OVA from 2010 that leans hard into dark fantasy politics and adult content. After defeating the evil overlord, Kyle turns his sights on unifying the continent under his rule, which sounds noble until you realize he stole his own brother's throne to do it. His brother Syll, also one of the seven heroes, survived Kyle's betrayal and now stands as the only real opposition. Things get complicated when Nina enters the picture — an elven princess, fellow hero, and Syll's lover. Kyle sees her and something shifts in him, and not in a good way. The story builds around that power imbalance and the ugliness that comes with it. If you liked the political scheming in something like Elf Princess Rane or wanted Those Who Hunt Elves to take a much darker turn, this scratches a specific itch. It is very much a hentai first, with the fantasy plot serving as framework rather than focus, so go in knowing that. The worldbuilding is thin across three episodes, but the dynamic between these former allies turned enemies gives it more weight than the genre usually bothers with. It is bleak, morally murky, and does not try to make Kyle sympathetic.
