Eclipse of Illusion
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A new life was all that awaited Yun Wangshu — instead, she watches her entire clan get butchered, with her husband behind the blade. That's not a spoiler — it's the first ten minutes. She barely survives, makes a deal with a mysterious organization called the Luoyi Pavilion, and trades away her heart and identity. Sixty years later, she comes back as Xihe, a completely different person with one very clear agenda: make every last conspirator pay. This is a 26-episode ONA from Yien Animation Studio, and the thing that immediately stands out is the 3D animation style. It leans hard into traditional Eastern aesthetics — ink-wash textures, flowing robes, atmospheric landscapes — but rendered with modern 3D tech that gives the action scenes real weight. The martial arts choreography has that fluid, supernatural edge where fights feel dangerous and personal rather than just flashy. What kept me watching past the setup is Xihe herself. She's not just rage incarnate — there's a hollowness to her that makes the revenge feel costly, not cathartic. The show understands that trading everything for power should actually feel like a loss. If you liked the dark historical fantasy vibes of The Legend of Qin, or the blend of mythology and stunning visuals in Fog Hill of Five Elements, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of White Snake's emotionally charged supernatural storytelling will find familiar ground here too. The tone is heavy from the jump and doesn't really let up, so come prepared for that.
