Episode Context

As the premiere of a 153-episode series, 'The Secret of the Dragon Balls' exists purely as a launchpad, introducing Son Goku, Bulma, and the central Dragon Ball quest that will drive the entire show. There's nothing before it; this is ground zero. It feeds directly into Episode 2, 'The Emperor's Quest,' which expands the cast and raises the stakes as the adventure gains momentum.
