Episode Context

Sitting roughly three-quarters through Dragon Ball Z's 291-episode run, this episode falls within the World Martial Arts Tournament portion of the Buu Saga, a stretch that reunites the cast in a competitive setting before the arc's darker, more destructive events take hold. Previous episodes have been building tournament brackets and reintroducing key fighters, and this installment advances that momentum while giving Android 18 a standout moment. What follows will rapidly escalate as the tournament gives way to the Majin Buu threat, making these fight-focused episodes the calm before a very long storm.
