Seeing Goku fight like this is strange because he usually gives it everything from the start but here he seems to be teaching a lesson instead of winning. I noticed how he keeps looking over at Gohan to make sure he is paying attention to Cell and his movements. That instant transmission blast was the coolest thing he has ever done though

Mr Satan thinking all these world ending energy blasts are just light shows and tricks makes the whole situation so weirdly funny

Watching Cell regenerate from a point blank kamehameha really makes it feel like brute force is not going to be enough this time

I feel like Goku is just testing the waters and not actually trying to win this fight because his eyes are on Gohan the whole time

Cell getting his top half blown off and then just standing back up like nothing happened is actually terrifying to watch

The way they spend five minutes just staring at each other before anything happens is a bit much, but the actual combat looks decent

Goku pulling out the instant transmission kamehameha caught me off guard and he looked so calm while doing it

I think Goku is definitely holding something back because he looks way too relaxed while Cell is sweating and trying to keep up with those teleports

Cell expected to just steamroll everyone but Goku is out there treating this like a light sparring match and it is clearly making the villain lose his mind

Finally getting past the filler stuff was such a relief, but the pacing at the start of the match was dragging a bit too much for the audience and seeing Goku step up with that insane confidence was cool even though the animation looked a little rough during the exchanges because that final blast from such a weird angle totally saved the whole experience for everyone watching

All that focus on Gohan in the background makes it feel like Goku is planning something big and it is making the tension so much worse

I was not expecting Cell to look so stressed out after only a few minutes of fighting Goku and his shocked expression made it so much better

Ten minutes of just staring and talking at the start was way too much and they really should have gotten to the punching a lot faster

Goku is definitely not using his full power yet and you can tell he is just testing Cell to see what he can actually do

Watching Mr Satan get slapped out of the ring was hilarious, but the animation during the actual fight felt a bit wonky in some parts

that instant transmission kamehameha caught me totally off guard and I still do not understand how Goku came up with something that crazy on the fly

Cell thought he was perfect until Goku started landing those hits and the look on his face when he realized he was being pushed back was worth the wait

I cannot believe Goku is so relaxed while everyone else is panicking and his smile before the fight started actually made me nervous for him

I have been waiting so long for Goku to get out of the time chamber and finally face Cell, but it feels like he is still holding something back. Seeing them trade blows at such high speeds is intense, especially since they both admit they are just warming up. My nerves are shot because Goku seems too calm for a guy whose world is ending.

That cliffhanger where Goku powers up and the ground starts shaking is exactly what the fight needed and it made the tension so much higher

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 177 of 291, this lands squarely in the heart of the Cell Games saga — the climactic tournament that the entire Cell arc has been building toward since the Androids first appeared. Prior episodes established the stakes, saw the fighters emerge from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and featured Cell's open challenge to the world. This fight between Goku and Cell is the centerpiece confrontation, but it also sets the stage for critical developments and revelations that will reshape the arc's final stretch.
