Sitting past the halfway mark of DBZ's 291-episode run, episode 159 falls deep within the Cell Saga, one of the series' most celebrated arcs where the conflict has escalated far beyond early skirmishes. The episodes preceding this one have built toward a critical confrontation, with Earth's defenders exhausting their options against an enemy that continues to surpass expectations.
