The contrast between Yamcha hitting home runs for money and Gohan literally fighting for his life in a cave is so weird, but it works. I felt so bad for Gohan when he tried to save the long-neck with his sword and it just bounced off. It really shows how much he needs to train before those saiyans arrive soon
