Synopsis

After talking Doraemon into using the 'What-If' Telephone Booth, Nobita turns their world into one where magic replaces science and technology. Sounds like a dream, right? Except Nobita is just as bad at casting spells as he is at doing homework, so nothing really changes for him. And then the booth gets thrown away before he can undo the wish, which is very on-brand for how things go in this kid's life. What starts as a comedic fish-out-of-water setup, Nobita failing at magic while everyone else flies around on broomsticks, gradually shifts into something bigger. He and the usual crew (Shizuka, Gian, Suneo, and Doraemon) cross paths with Professor Mangetsu and his daughter Miyoko, who reveal that a mysterious star from the Underworld is heading toward Earth. So now the gang has to figure out how to save a magical world they barely understand. The movie has that classic Doraemon warmth where the stakes feel real but the tone stays accessible. There's genuine suspense mixed with the kind of goofy humor the series does well. The animation from Shin-Ei blends traditional 2D with some early CG work that gives the magical world its own visual identity. If you liked the original Doraemon: Nobita's Great Adventure into the Underworld, this is a reimagining with updated visuals and pacing. Fans of Doraemon: Nobita's Three Visionary Swordsmen or Nobita's Great Adventure in the South Seas will feel right at home with the adventure-fantasy vibe here.
