Doraemon the Movie 2026: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Ten thousand meters below the Pacific Ocean, there's an ancient civilization nobody knows about — and Nobita just stumbled into it during a camping trip. That's the setup for this 2026 Doraemon movie, a remake of the 1983 classic where Nobita, Doraemon, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo use futuristic gadgets to turn the ocean floor into their personal playground. What starts as goofing around in the deep sea quickly shifts when they discover ruins of the underwater kingdom of Mu, and then its inhabitants capture the whole group. The usual Doraemon dynamic is here — Nobita being hopeless but somehow finding courage when it counts, Gian being loud, Suneo being Suneo — but the undersea setting gives everything a different texture. There's genuine suspense mixed in with the comedy, and the mystery of Mu keeps things moving. If you enjoyed the sense of wonder in Doraemon: Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds or the stakes in Doraemon: Nobita and the Steel Troops, this hits similar notes but with modern animation from Shin-Ei Animation. Worth noting this is the first Doraemon film screened in 4D formats, which tracks given how much of it takes place underwater. If Doraemon: Nobita's Sky Utopia worked for you, this is the next natural pick — same blend of adventure and heart, just traded clouds for ocean trenches.
