DNA Hunter
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When a mountain climbing accident takes Mai's fiancé from her, she refuses to let that be the end of the story. She wants his child, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen — including taking on one of the strangest jobs you'll ever see in anime. A DNA Hunter tracks down specific men and obtains... biological samples for women who want children by those particular individuals. By any means necessary. That's the gig Mai signs up for to fund the genetic research that could give her what she lost. This 3-episode OVA from Blue Cat leans hard into adult content, but there's actually a premise underneath it. Mai is driven by grief and love, and the show frames her work through that emotional lens — she's not just doing something outrageous for shock value, she has a reason, and the story keeps circling back to it. There's a genuine moral tension in watching someone compromise themselves for something deeply personal. If you've seen Bio Hunter and appreciated how it wrapped mature themes around a grounded human story, this scratches a similar itch, though it goes considerably further. Fans of El Cazador de la Bruja who enjoy a woman with a mission navigating morally complicated situations will recognize that energy here, even if the execution is very different. It's not sophisticated storytelling, but for what it is — a short, adult OVA with an actual emotional throughline — it does more than you'd expect.
