Synopsis
In a rebuilt city, five girls with magic in their voices fight monsters — and the weapon system runs on singing. That's the core of Utahime (Diva), a music video by V.W.P that serves as the opening theme for the multimedia project Kamitsubaki City Under Construction. The setup: seven years after a catastrophe leveled a futuristic metropolis, the city is being pieced back together. But something's stirring underneath the surface, and the only ones who can deal with it are the Witchlings, a squad of magical girls whose combat abilities are literally channeled through song. Each one brings a different voice and a different power to the table, and the dynamic between them is where things get interesting. The music video itself is a single episode produced by Haneda xR Studio, and it works as both a standalone piece and a gateway into the larger world. If you're into Symphogear's whole "singing while fighting" thing or the darker magical girl energy of Madoka Magica, this sits in that same neighborhood. There's also a bit of the ensemble idol-meets-magic vibe you'd get from Lapis Re:LiGHTs. It's a short watch — just one episode — but it nails the atmosphere: part mystery, part spectacle, with music doing the heavy lifting in a way that actually feels earned rather than decorative. Worth your time if the concept of weaponized vocals sounds like your thing.
