He dismisses Naito's shame for a failed coup, then mercilessly drains his "E-Pulse" into Proganomon. Naito screams as his energy is siphoned, a chilling demonstration of Clay's ruthless ambition. The scene ends with a stark message: "Power to steal."

Far away, the enigmatic Wan receives news of the Tacticians' annihilation, with Clay Arsland the only one missing. He muses about Clay's next move, linking it to a mysterious "island." A sudden flashback reveals a catastrophic event 21 years ago: an island exploding from a boat's perspective, a young Clay Arsland horrified by a "monster." Back in the present, Clay Arsland vows to thwart Wan Yu's grand vision.

The group, Tomorou, Kyoh, Reijin, and Luna, finds a brief respite sharing noodles. Their peace is interrupted by a man in glasses, who probes about the fate of those lost at the Coliseum. He presses Kyoh to return to his former self, implying a forgotten strength. Ever practical, Luna secures a substantial payment for the rescue mission, igniting the team's resolve for the new task.

A glitching digital landscape mirrors Tomorou's internal turmoil; he is adrift, hearing of the Tacticians' defeat and Naito's fall. He despairs, questioning his own capabilities and admitting he lacks the "genius" of a true leader. Runa attempts to offer solace, reminding him of Gammamon's steadfast presence and advising him to escape while he still can. Tomorou holds a small data card, lost in thought, his path forward obscured by doubt.

A sudden shockwave rips open the digital ground, creating a black hole that swallows Runa, Kiyoshiro, and Kunimon. Tomorou, in a desperate attempt, tries to save them but is inexorably pulled into the swirling vortex himself, followed by Gammamon. They all emerge in a desolate desert. Runa quickly identifies their location as the ruined Albidan Republic, a land scarred by past conflicts over rare earth mining rights.

As mysterious stone pillars glow with purple energy and six glowing squares appear in the sky, Tomorou resolves to act. He, Kiyoshiro, and Runa channel their energy, transforming their Digimon: Gammamon into Almarizamon, Lurumon into Kirogromon, and Puurimon into Urabamomon. Clay then compels Reijin to "guide them," and both are pulled into a portal, landing directly before the towering Proganomon. After Murasamemon's brief, futile attack, Clay Arsland calmly recounts Albidan's fall, a once-lush land destroyed by foreign exploitation and a corrupt puppet government. He declares that in such a world, only supreme power ensures survival.

Tomorou confronts Clay Arsland about the E-Pulse, prompting Clay to dismantle Tomorou's understanding of past events. Clay reveals the truth behind the submerged city, claiming President Wan orchestrated a cover-up for a catastrophic E-Pulse research accident on Kamiojima 21 years prior. A young Clay Arsland was a test subject, witnessing the emergence of E-Pulse monsters and the subsequent destruction of the island by a giant Digimon. He explains Wan then commercialized E-Pulse, and now dreams of that "giant power" again, making Clay's own pursuit of power a perceived necessity to counter Wan.

Clay Arsland unveils his grand design, explaining how countless E-Pulses are funneled into Proganomon, reducing individual human worth to nothing. Kyoh's desperate plea to stop him is ignored as Proganomon evolves into the formidable Pyramimon, a colossal pyramid-shaped Digimon. Pyramimon unleashes overwhelming energy blasts, easily swatting aside Almarizamon and rendering the heroes powerless. Clay Arsland revels in his triumph, coldly declaring that power dictates all, reducing their resistance to "foolish."

Reijin watches in anguish as Murasamemon's unstable E-Pulse falters, yet the Digimon bravely confronts Pyramimon before reverting to its weaker form. Undeterred by Clay Arsland's relentless taunts, Runa asserts her belief in Kyoh's eventual arrival. In a desperate surge of resolve, Tomorou offers all his E-Pulse to Almarizamon. This combined with the renewed E-Pulse of Kiyoshiro and Runa allows their Digimon to destroy Pyramimon. A shocked Clay Arsland then smiles sinisterly, declaring his "true family" to be the entire world.

Clay Arsland transforms into a swirling purple entity, then manifests as a giant Naito, with Proganomon looming behind him, proclaiming his dominion over all. He launches a devastating attack, which Almarizamon heroically intercepts, shattering and reverting to Gammamon. Engulfed in the blast, Tomorou's E-Pulse drains, only for him to re-emerge as Tenma Tomorou, brimming with defiant resolve. He condemns Clay Arsland's path, vowing to protect his true family and create a world of dreams, battling Clay and sending him into a dimensional portal before returning to his exhausted, original form.

Exhausted, Tomorou seeks guidance from Kiyoshiro and Runa, finding renewed belief in Kiyoshiro's words. They prepare for battle once more, their Digimon evolving and launching powerful energy blasts, seemingly defeating Clay Arsland. But Clay's maniacal laughter echoes, "It's not over yet!" He merges with Proganomon, who grows colossal and unleashes an unstoppable energy wave. The heroes are overwhelmed, thrown back, and ultimately defeated, their brief triumph dissolving into despair as the screen fades to black.
