Diabolus: Kikoku
Oshimeter
Synopsis
What seems like a familiar setup takes a sharp turn when you factor in that this particular spirit takes the form of an attractive guy and has very specific unfinished business with female students — a ghost haunting a high school has rarely looked quite like this. That's the setup for Diabolus: Kikoku, a two-episode OVA from PoRO based on a visual novel, and it leans hard into that premise without apology. Two students, Asahina Yuuki and Kimizuka Sayako, start piecing together what's behind the strange incidents on campus and stumble onto the spirit's backstory and what it actually needs to move on. Their solution involves taking a very direct, hands-on approach to laying the ghost to rest. The supernatural framing gives the whole thing an eerie, unsettling atmosphere — the haunting soundtrack and fluid animation actually sell the horror side better than you might expect from this type of release. If you've watched something like Bible Black and appreciated how it balanced a genuinely creepy supernatural premise with its adult content, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Discipline: The Record of a Crusade who like their hentai with at least some narrative backbone will probably find this worth the short runtime. It's not trying to be subtle about what it is, but the ghost story wrapping gives it a slightly different texture than most titles in the genre. Two episodes, a real plot thread connecting them, and a moody aesthetic that commits to its horror roots.
