Di Gi Charat: Summer Vacation Specials
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When a tiny catgirl named Puchiko can't reach the stop button on a bus, she accidentally gets stranded in America — and that's the whole inciting incident, exactly as ridiculous as it sounds. Dejiko, her loud and self-important catgirl companion, gets a letter from Rodoyan — an American otaku who's apparently a huge fan — letting her know where Puchiko ended up. So Dejiko heads to America to bring her back, and what follows is four short episodes of culture clash, absurd situations, and characters who occasionally just talk directly at you through the screen. The fourth wall is more of a suggestion here. The humor leans hard into the contrast between the characters' chaotic personalities and their very out-of-place surroundings, with Gema, the floating talking ball, along for the ride as always. It's loose, fast, and built entirely around gags rather than plot. If you've already watched the original Di Gi Charat shorts and want more of that same energy in a new setting, this fits right in. Fans of Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat or something with the anarchic spirit of Ninja Nonsense will find the tone familiar. It's not trying to build toward anything — it's just four episodes of chibi catgirls causing problems in a foreign country, which is either exactly what you're looking for or a very easy pass depending on your taste.
