Di Gi Charat: Christmas Special
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The plan is simple for Piyoko: invite Dejiko and the whole Akihabara crew onto a Christmas cruise and finally capture the cat-eared princess once and for all. It's a terrible plan. It's going to fall apart immediately. That's kind of the whole point. Di Gi Charat Christmas Special is a single episode of cheerful chaos set aboard a festive cruise ship, where Piyoko's kidnapping schemes collide with Dejiko's chaotic energy and nobody comes out looking particularly dignified. Dejiko herself is the kind of protagonist who's equal parts adorable and genuinely unhinged, and watching her bounce off the rest of the cast — including the quietly deadpan Puchiko and the perpetually frustrated Rabi~en~Rose — gives the whole thing a scrappy, fast-moving comedy rhythm. The chibi art style leans hard into the silliness, and the holiday setting adds just enough festive texture without turning into a proper Christmas special with feelings and lessons. It's comfort food, basically. If you've watched something like Galaxy Angel and appreciated how it commits to pure gag comedy without needing stakes, this scratches the same itch. Fans of Ninja Nonsense's brand of low-stakes absurdity will probably feel at home here too. At one episode, there's no commitment required — it's a bite-sized slice of early 2000s Madhouse silliness that doesn't overstay its welcome.
