This one actually broke me. The piano sequence is easily the most beautiful thing in the series so far and the music is amazing. Seeing the ark finally start to rebuild itself after all that chaos felt like such a massive relief.

This episode was really good. Things got serious and it felt tense the whole time.

It is bleak, intense, and basically the emotional last gasp before the story pivots into even bigger chaos, I assume.

Well color me surprised, it seems that we will get that final battle after all. A new threat arises from a foe once thought to have been neutralized and he seems more dangerous this time around. Animation bumped up as well, meaning this is a decisive bout to cap off this arc.

Things get super eerie here. There’s a psychological edge to the battle that makes it feel like a horror movie. Watch for the moment Tyki Mikk lets his "inner Noah" take the wheel, it’s honestly terrifying and a shift in tone.

It is the best as it embraces its dark, gothic roots. This episode leaves you breathless, terrified for the characters' lives and desperate to see how they can possibly survive the Voice of Darkness.

The pacing of this episode is fantastic. its smooth and quickly between the shifts between psychological to the reality battle scene. The visuals of this episode are also great. The way that the lighting is used, along with the contrast of the visuals, is really impressive.

This is pure mental anguish. D's gothic atmosphere. The mood, which is depressing, heavy, and forlorn, perfectly captures Gray-Man. You can feel Allen's frustration as he tries to recover control. A quiet but impactful introduction to what's to come.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off 'Lavi,' which forced that character to confront his deepest illusions and inner demons, this episode deepens that psychological reckoning while keeping the group's broader mission in motion. At episode 89 of 103, the series is firmly in its endgame stretch, where personal identity and sacrifice carry as much weight as battlefield outcomes. 'The Voice of Darkness' bridges these internal struggles toward 'Black Carnival,' signaling a shift back toward escalating external conflict.
