Detective Conan Movie 28: One-Eyed Flashback
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Ten months ago, a chase through the Yatsugatake mountains cost Inspector Yamato his left eye — and he can't remember what happened that day. That's already a solid mystery setup, but then Kogoro Mouri's old colleague gets assassinated right in front of him while trying to share new information about the case. Now Conan, Kogoro, and Ran are heading to snow-covered Nagano to figure out who's pulling the strings, and why people keep dying over whatever Yamato stumbled into. This movie leans hard into the detective work side of Conan rather than the big action spectacle route. The Nagano police crew — Morofushi, Uehara, and Yamato himself — get real screen time and actual character depth, which is a treat if you've been following them in the main series. The winter mountain setting gives everything this cold, tense atmosphere where it feels like danger is always just out of frame. Multiple agencies are involved — Tokyo MPD, CSICE, the PSB — so the conspiracy runs deep. If you enjoyed the layered investigation in Detective Conan Movie 25: The Scarlet Bullet or the high-stakes tension of Movie 26: Black Iron Submarine, this hits a similar sweet spot but trades the flashy setpieces for a tighter, more grounded mystery. It's one of those Conan films where the actual case carries the whole thing. You don't need to be caught up on 1100+ episodes, but knowing the Nagano officers makes this way more rewarding.
