Desert Island Story XX
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A mysterious explosion rocks a remote island, leaving nine survivors — six women and three men — completely cut off from the outside world. Among them are Aoi and Shiori, trying to make sense of what happened while the group figures out how to stay alive with no rescue in sight. Then they start poking around the island's laboratory, and what they find there is genuinely unsettling: the place was running experiments on transferring thoughts and emotions directly into other people's bodies. Not exactly the kind of discovery you want to make when you're already stranded with no way to call for help. As the group tries to hold it together, things start getting darker — people are being attacked, trust is breaking down, and the island's secrets are only beginning to surface. The setup borrows the pressure-cooker tension you'd get from something like Survival Island, where isolation strips away any sense of safety, and the psychological edge of the mind-transfer premise adds a layer that keeps it from feeling like a straightforward survival story. If you liked Desert Island Story X and want more of that same isolated, suspenseful atmosphere with a sci-fi twist underneath, this follows in that vein. It's a 4-episode OVA from 1999, so it moves quickly and doesn't overstay its welcome. The tone is tense from the start, and the mystery of what that lab was actually doing lingers over everything.
