Demon Beast Invasion
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Stalking the streets of a contemporary city, a demon that can take any face it chooses — including a woman's — hunts its prey. That's the premise of Youjuu Kyoushitsu, a 6-episode OVA from 1990 that leans hard into the horror side of things. The demon doesn't just attack; it infiltrates. It disguises itself, gets close, and the tension comes from watching ordinary people have no idea what's standing right next to them. The early episodes establish a genuinely unsettling cat-and-mouse dynamic between human and supernatural forces, wrapped in that distinctly gritty early-90s animation style that gives everything a slightly grimy, oppressive weight. The atmospheric soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting too — it's the kind of score that makes quiet scenes feel like something is about to go very wrong. Fair warning: this is a hentai OVA, so the horror and explicit content are thoroughly intertwined throughout. If you've seen Wicked City and appreciated that blend of urban supernatural dread with mature content, this comes from a similar creative space. Fans of Psycho Diver: Soul Siren will also recognize the vibe — dark, mythology-tinged, and not particularly interested in holding your hand. It's a product of its era in every sense, raw and unapologetic, adapted from manga source material. Not for everyone, but if you know what you're getting into, it delivers exactly the dark, creature-feature energy it promises.
