the nail mark technique aizawa employs is a satisfying example of low-technology counter-intelligence within a story that usually operates on abstract psychological maneuvering. physical details being used to confirm large suspicions is a grounding reminder that not every breakthrough requires elaborate digital methods.

we are so close to the end and i genuinely cannot tell how this is going to resolve. my head is starting to hurt trying to track everything because every character seems to have a separate angle running simultaneously. this show is draining in a way that makes it completely impossible to stop.

this is exactly the kind of episode that makes me wish the world had more people with this specific type of intelligence doing something that actually matters. the investigative cleverness here is genuinely impressive to watch even when my head starts to hurt trying to keep up

Who will really win in the end? Near, who is almost like an upgraded L or Yagami who is slowly catching up with the game. None is giving up!

This episode, I really realized the difference between L's team and Near's team and can't help but think Near has a better team than L.
All the players this episode are coming closer to reaching their own suspected truths and tensions are rising.

Mikami worked as Light had instructed him. Will this prove to be beneficial for light? On the other hand, Misa was abducted along with Near. Gevanni infiltrates Mikami’s gym and got hands on the notebook. But he doesn't find any Shinigami lurking there. Near searches for patterns

Characters on each other’s throat brings forth suspense. You can feel someone inching closer to the truth. It brings back that classic cat-and-mouse tension that keeps you hooked.

Near feels way more in control now. Light keeps moving like everything is fine, but Near looks like he has all the time in the world to slowly corner him. The mind game is getting really tense again.

The episode tightens the noose around Light as Near sharpens his suspicions. Mikami’s loyalty adds intensity, but also risk. The mind games grow colder and more precise. The pacing is slow yet tense, signaling that the final battle is approaching fast.

Near is finally making his move to meet Light face-to-face. He is very suspicious of the "fake" notebook and starts to investigate Mikami closely. Light thinks he is winning, but he doesn't realize that Aizawa is starting to doubt him too. The walls are closing in!

This episode does a fantastic job at portraying tension. The Yellow Box warehouse was the object of Near and Light's final altercation. The last countdown begins. As Aizawa begins to grasp the truth, Light maintains his arrogant demeanor, believing his trap for Near.

mostly a setup ep but Near piecing things together is lowkey satisfying to watch. the cat and mouse energy is still there, just slower. not the most exciting but you can't skip it 👁️

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned as episode 34 of 37, 'Vigilance' occupies the critical endgame stretch where every move carries final consequences. It follows 'Scorn,' which brought Near to Japan and escalated Light's entanglement with Takada, and feeds directly into 'Malice,' where the simmering confrontation between opposing forces threatens to boil over into direct conflict.
