📖 SYNOPSIS

The DearS don't interest Takeya Ikuhara in the slightest — not the 150 aliens who crash-landed in Japan a year ago, and not the government homestay program that's turned them into model citizens. Everyone else thinks they're fascinating. Takeya thinks the whole thing is weird. Then one morning he stumbles across Ren, a DearS who's clearly lost, possibly defective, and definitely not ready for human society. Against his better judgment, he takes her in. She immediately latches onto him, calls him 'Master,' and starts trying to be the perfect companion — which mostly means causing chaos because she has zero understanding of how anything works. From there it's a comedic, romantic mess as Takeya tries to navigate life with an overly devoted alien girl who keeps drawing attention and complicating his very ordinary high school existence. The Peach-Pit character designs give it a distinctive look, and the sci-fi framing adds just enough flavor to keep the alien-meets-human setup from feeling too familiar. If you liked the dynamic in Chobits where a clueless but endearing non-human girl upends a guy's life, this hits a similar note but leans harder into the harem comedy side. Fans of To Love-Ru or Heaven's Lost Property will also feel at home here — ecchi humor, a growing cast of girls, and a protagonist who didn't ask for any of this. It's 12 episodes from Daume studio, based on the manga, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.

Overall Ranking

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You enjoy classic mid-2000s harem setups — devoted alien girl, oblivious guy, jealous rivals
Ecchi comedy with a sci-fi twist sounds fun — Ren's fish-out-of-water antics carry the humor
You're okay with a short 12-episode romp that doesn't take itself seriously at all
Daume's character designs appeal to you — the DearS girls have that distinct early-2000s aesthetic

❌ SKIP IF...

You want original storytelling — this leans hard on every harem and ecchi trope in the book
Ren's child-like devotion dynamic with Takeya feels uncomfortable rather than endearing to you
You expect meaningful sci-fi worldbuilding — the alien premise is mostly a backdrop for fanservice
