Synopsis
Having spent their entire lives side by side, Mamoru and Rio have been the closest of friends, and they're both clearly into each other — but neither one has actually said it yet. Then Rio wins a beauty contest, gets scooped up by a big talent agency, and suddenly she's on the fast track to idol stardom. Sounds great on paper, except her rising fame catches the attention of some seriously shady people behind the scenes. These guys aren't just industry creeps — they're running a twisted game built around watching Rio suffer and lose everything she cares about. When Mamoru catches wind of what's happening, he decides to infiltrate the whole thing himself to try and protect her, without letting Rio know what he's really doing. It's a PoRO OVA adapted from a visual novel, so you know the production quality is solid and the character dynamics get pretty intense. The story leans hard into the dark side of the entertainment world — exploitation, power imbalances, moral compromises — while threading an emotional core about two people who can't quite reach each other. If you've watched stuff like Koi suru Tenshi Angelique or Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi and wanted something with a much darker edge, this hits that spot. There's also a Love Tyrant-style tension between genuine affection and chaotic circumstances pulling everyone apart. The blend of suspense and emotional weight keeps things from feeling one-note, and the contemporary setting grounds all the drama in something that feels uncomfortably plausible.
