War is mocked in a suitable way. How soldiers die for others' cause, is criticised greatly in this last episode. Hei’s judgment time was shown boldly. It picks up the pace, and the animation also has its significance. The closing feels complete as acceptance is the only road.

A finale that trusts its audience completely. Hei's choice inside the Gate is earned across 25 episodes of careful character work. Bittersweet, philosophically rich, and visually striking. One of the best season finales in anime.
