​Darker than Black: Gaiden is a four-episode original video animation (OVA) series that bridges the narrative between the first season of Darker than Black and its sequel, Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor. The OVAs chronicle the journey of Hei, an elite Contractor with the ability to generate electricity, and his partner Yin, a Doll with observational powers, as they evade the Syndicate—a powerful organization determined to capture them. Posing as newlyweds, Hei and Yin seek refuge while confronting emerging threats and delving into Yin's evolving nature, which hints at her transformation into a being known as Izanami. This evolution introduces complex challenges, testing their partnership and survival instincts.
