Synopsis
Having lived abroad in Africa for most of her life, Rinku Aimoto is now returning to Japan to attend Yoba Academy, a school where DJ units—groups made up of DJs, vocalists, and dancers—are extremely popular. There, she meets Maho Akashi, an aspiring DJ who teaches Rinku the basics of DJing. The girls attend a performance by Yoba's famous DJ unit Peaky P-key, and struck by inspiration, they decide to form a unit of their own. Rinku and Maho soon recruit Muni Oonaruto, a talented artist and Rinku's childhood friend, as well as Rei Togetsu, a shy and caring pianist. Newly named Happy Around, the group aims to use the budding friendships and combined talents of its members to become one of the top DJ units in the country.

I actually love that the finale remembers winning is not the only thing that matters. Happy Around! has grown so much that even coming up short still feels satisfying. It ends on pure good vibes and leaves you wanting to spend more time with this cast.
This was easily one of the most emotional episodes. Watching Rinku and Muni stumble through feelings they never properly put into words felt painfully real. Their bond never stopped existing, it just got buried under time. I was not ready for that payoff at all.
I really appreciate that Photon Maiden finally gets to breathe as more than the polished rival group. Saki chasing her own creative voice made the episode surprisingly relatable. Growth here feels personal instead of flashy, and that honestly made it hit even harder.
Rei finally gets the chance to let her own voice shine and it honestly felt earned. I also loved how both groups respected each other instead of turning everything into unnecessary rivalry. The performance had me grinning like an idiot by the end.
Competition season is finally here and it gives everyone that extra push. I loved seeing the group wrestle with what kind of music actually represents them instead of simply chasing a win. Rei quietly steals the episode without making it all about her.
Man, we've reached the finale and it was awesome! I admire how our Happy Around! girls never back down and always view things in a positive light. It was nice seeing all the characters together, especially all of the groups we've come to love. I haven't been keeping up with D4DJ lately, but I think there are more seasons of this anime? I might give them a watch someday. Loved this.
This episode is more on the emotional side as tension builds up between Rinku and Muni, the childhood friends. The way they resolved that was... creative. It made me laugh, I'm not gonna lie. 🤣 We're getting close to the final episode and I'm hyped.
FINALLY! I'm so happy we get an episode focusing on Photon Maiden, and Saki's my favorite too! 😭 Come to think of it now, maybe my previous sentiment was a bit off. Though Photon Maiden are clearly very talented, they feel more like an idol group that's pretty manufactured, whereas Happy Around! just has more of that authentic vibe to them. Seeing this side of Saki and Photon Maiden in general really makes you view them in a different light. I love them.
So many things happened this episode. 🤣 We get a continuation of Rei's character arc from last episode, and it really makes you root for her. Rinku and Towa becoming friends was also sweet. I'm not gonna lie, the results disappointed me, but then again, they were all good.
Wow, this is getting pretty intense and way more competitive! Photon Maiden is actually my favorite group in D4DJ, so I'm rooting for them. But at the same time, because the anime focuses on Happy Around!, you get so attached to them and their story. It's hard... 😭 But man, this was exciting.
Lots of misunderstandings this episode. LOL. Poor Maho was going through it and honestly, the situation didn't make it easier for her. 😭 We get to see more of Peaky P-key's backstory too. The end of the episode was worth it though.
Maho was stressing so hard that I almost wanted to shake her through the screen. I really liked that the conflict came from misunderstandings instead of forced drama. It also gives Peaky P-key more depth without stealing the spotlight. Really wholesome payoff.
The Christmas vibes were absolutely immaculate. Rinku getting recognized by someone she admires was such a feel good moment, but the episode quietly plants just enough tension to make you wonder where everyone's feelings are headed. Sneaky good setup.
This felt like the ultimate comfy anime episode. Watching these lovable disasters try to study and somehow end up cooking instead was peak Happy Around! energy. It barely moves the plot, but it quietly sells why this group works so well as actual friends.
Poor Muni really wanted her moment and the episode made that frustration hit harder than I expected. Happy Around! finally feels complete, but it also shows that joining the spotlight together does not mean everyone shines equally. Really solid character focused episode.
Things are getting more interesting now that the other characters are interacting more with our Happy Around! girls. It's cool seeing the top unit notice them, but this also built up some tension. I'm curious to know what's gonna happen next.
A chill episode that's basically just to see them hang out more and bond. Rei kind of reminds me of Mugi from K-ON!, in a way. 🤣 This was wholesome and overall just very slice-of-life.
Muni is honestly pretty relatable, I don't know... 🤣 It was sweet seeing her and Rei bond. Also, the squad is finally whole now! Watching them all on stage got me hyped and their unit name really brings back memories. Fun ep.
We learn more about the mysterious girl with long black hair they've been showing throughout the episodes so far. I love that they're slowly assembling the squad. 🤣 Seeing how passionate they are even when things don't always end up best is very sweet. The hype is building up!
The focus shifts to a character we didn't know much about before, and there's actually a bit of a revelation. 🤣 I love how each character has something special about them that is important to their group. They're starting to feel even more like a unit now, and I'm excited.
