📖 SYNOPSIS
From the very beginning, the Nijigasaki School Idol Club has been about letting each member shine on their own terms, and this movie leans all the way into that idea. Part 2 of the Kanketsu-hen finale follows Karin, Ai, Setsuna, Rina, Shioriko, and Mia as they head out to Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe for the School Idol GPX — a nationwide competition to crown the most promotable school idol of the year. Each city brings its own energy and cultural flavor, and the film uses those settings to frame what each girl is working through personally. It's less about winning a contest and more about figuring out who they are when the spotlight hits them individually, away from the comfort of the full group.
The tone stays warm and grounded in that way Nijigasaki has always handled things — youthful without being naive, wholesome without being shallow. Sunrise delivers on the performance sequences, which feel like natural extensions of each character's arc rather than just spectacle for spectacle's sake.
If you liked Love Live! Sunshine!! for its emotional sincerity or Love Live! Superstar!! for its focus on personal stakes within idol competition, this hits similar notes but with Nijigasaki's signature emphasis on individuality over team hierarchy. Fans of Chance Pop Session's approach to music as self-expression will find something here too. It's a fitting send-off for a cast that earned it.
