The tonal whiplash and switch up from the previous episode was so reall, insane action sequences, explosions and general destruction caused by the main cast. The last part witH Faye and Spike was the only thing reminding me of this show's lighter themes.
The whole sequence in the cathedral with Vicious was amazing, from the vocals to the animation sequence, everything feels like the episode title, a ballad of fallen angels. Incredible scene coupled with the imagery shown!
This episode builds a deep mystery behind the main character, Spike, who we've so far known as familiar. The extra information and elusive past of his makes him feel unfamiliar and way more interesting than what we are shown of him initially. The lore in this series deepens.
