This episode definitely leaned more into the comedic aspect of the characters and world around them. Compared to the first one, the tone is really fun. Watching the teamwork between Jet and Spike was a highlight - with Jet shifting into a more central role here. Great episode!

I was so mesmerized by the silent shots and beautifully drawn backgrounds, they made the world feel very lively and leaned into the 1990s vibe. During the run/chase with Hakim, the music, angles and shading of the scenery made me appreciate this series' world a lot!

I really like the semi-lighthearted tone this series implements amongst the otherwise darker premise. I was taken aback by the corgi chase because of the soundtrack! But it really helps emphasize Spike's goofy and likeable character with how he goes about his bounty hunts.

This episode is quite chaotic with how the characters pursuing just one target. The settings reminded me of Kowloon, and the tone of the era was definitely classic, retro vibes, not futuristic. But as a 90s animation, it was pretty good. The smooth transition was beyond expected.

Episode two and our duo still struggles to make ends meat, the world is futuristic but filled with analog machines which is a nice contrast. The Big Shot TV show makes it's debut. The setting of this episode looks like 90s Hong Kong.

Jet gets more depth and the bounty life feels rougher. The episode blends noir tension with slick action like it’s effortless. Every scene breathes. It’s not loud hype — it’s COOL confidence.

New character Ein joins the Spike crew, providing more aid and a rush to the mission.

Spike and Jet chase a rogue hacker across the city, but the highlight is Jet’s hands-on detective work. That scene where Spike swings into the building from the street is simply pure adrenaline. The episode mixes humor and tension perfectly.

Radham is hilarious 😂 Spike and Jet get played but the crew chemistry is already perfect. Faye isn’t here yet, but you can feel the chaos building. Classic early Bebop vibe. 🎷

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the tonally heavy and self-contained premiere 'Asteroid Blues,' this episode demonstrates Bebop's episodic range by pivoting to comedy while quietly expanding the crew roster with Ein's introduction. It's the second step in the show's early stretch of assembling the full Bebop family, setting the stage for 'Honky Tonk Women,' which will bring yet another key character into the fold.
