Episode Context

Following the series premiere 'Great Departure,' which established Captain Warrius Zero's mission and the weight of his assignment to capture Captain Harlock, this second episode turns the lens inward before the larger mission can take shape. The internal discord seeded here, mistrust, hierarchy, and the fragility of a mixed crew, becomes the emotional foundation the rest of the season will test against external threats. It positions the Karyu as a microcosm of post-war tensions that must be resolved, or at least survived, before Zero can truly confront what lies ahead.
