The cool thing about this episode is that the scene is already intense, showing how brutal it is right from the start.

Episode Context

As episode one of twenty-five, this is pure foundation, the world, its rules, and its key players are all established here with remarkable efficiency. The central tensions between empire and resistance, between Lelouch and Suzaku, and between idealism and ruthlessness are seeded in ways that will drive the entire season. Everything that unfolds across the remaining episodes stems directly from the catalyst event introduced in this premiere.
