Cluster Edge
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Beaming with warmth and absolutely no idea how out of place it makes him, Agate Fluorite transfers into Cluster E.A. Academy. This is a school for the children of the ruling elite — kids groomed to inherit power in a world still scarred by wars fought with artificial soldiers. Everyone here carries the weight of legacy, political maneuvering, and quiet resentment. Then there's Agate, radiating warmth like he wandered in from a different show entirely. On his way to the academy, he befriends Beryl Jasper, an honor student already cracking under his family's expectations, and the two get caught in a military skirmish involving the very artificial soldiers society treats as disposable weapons. That's your first two episodes, and the show is already asking uncomfortable questions about who counts as human and who gets to decide. The setting blends this cool early 20th-century European aesthetic with futuristic military tech, which gives the whole thing a distinctive vibe — think Gundam Wing's political intrigue filtered through a boarding school drama. If you liked Code Geass for its layered power struggles or Aldnoah.Zero for its wartime tension, this hits similar notes but from a quieter, more character-driven angle. It's a 25-episode TV series from Sunrise (2005), and while it's not as well-known as their bigger titles, the moral complexity around artificial life and the slow unraveling of the academy's polished surface make it worth the time.
